Bottle Reveal: Introducing the Aberargie Expressions Range

As we approach the launch of our next release from Aberargie Distillery, we are delighted to share a first glimpse of the bottles that will soon become part of our whisky journey.

Launching on 15th September, the first two releases from our new Expressions range mark the beginning of a series dedicated to exploring the influence of barley and the role it plays in shaping the character of our spirit.

At Aberargie, every whisky begins in the fields that surround our distillery. From the barley we carefully cultivate on our family farm to the casks selected for maturation, each stage of the process allows us to better understand how every individual element contributes to the final whisky.

The Expressions range celebrates two distinctive barley varietals: Golden Promise and Laureate. Rather than combining these grains, each expression allows a single variety to take centre stage, revealing the unique qualities, flavours and character it brings from barley to bottle.

This release represents the next chapter in our commitment to exploring the true influence of barley — showcasing how the variety grown in our fields can shape the spirit resting in our casks and, ultimately, the whisky in your glass.

GOLDEN PROMISE

LAUREATE

A barley variety with a celebrated history in Scotch whisky, Golden Promise is renowned for the depth of flavour it brings to the spirit. This expression highlights its naturally rich and indulgent character through a carefully considered cask selection of 68% first-fill bourbon maturation, complemented by 32% first-fill sherry casks.

The result is a whisky with layers of warm buttery pastry, baked orchard fruits, brown sugar and gentle baking spices — a reflection of Golden Promise’s distinctive character and the influence of the fields where it begins.

Representing a newer generation of barley, Laureate has been selected for its resilience and exceptional flavour potential. This expression showcases the elegance and vibrancy of the varietal through a maturation profile led by 68% first-fill sherry casks, balanced with 32% first-fill bourbon casks.

The whisky reveals bright notes of candied orange peel, dried fruits and ripe orchard fruits, followed by a lingering honeyed finish that highlights the refined character of Laureate barley.
